Bybit key.
The key can only be created on the Bybit website; the Bybit app doesn't have this option. A computer is easier, but a phone browser works too.
BEFORE YOU START01
What you need first.
- 48 hours since you registered: Bybit doesn't allow creating a key earlier.
- Google Authenticator (2FA) turned on.
- An account on bybit.com. Bybit EU issues keys only to partners on Bybit's list, so connecting PnL there most likely won't work.
STEPS02
How to create the key.
- Open the Bybit API keys page (or profile icon → API) and tap Create New Key.
- Choose System-generated API Keys with the purpose API Transaction. Connect to Third-Party Applications is not the right option.
- Name the key, for example PnL. Permissions: Read-Only. Tick Unified Trading, Wallet and Assets, read-only.
- IP: No IP restriction.
- Confirm with your Google Authenticator code.
- Copy the API Key and the Secret. Bybit shows the Secret only once. Paste both into PnL: Settings → Connections → Bybit.
EXPIRY03
The key works for 3 months and extends in a minute.
Bybit disables keys without an IP restriction after 90 days, read-only ones included. PnL knows the exact date and reminds you two weeks ahead. To extend the key without changing it:
- Open the Bybit API keys page.
- Tap Edit on your key.
- Under IP Address Added, choose No IP restriction and tap Submit.
- Confirm with the code from your email and Google Authenticator. The key works for another 90 days; nothing changes in PnL.
IF IT DOESN'T WORK04
Common causes.
- “The key has expired” - extend it with the steps above or create a new one.
- “Key not accepted” - the key was copied incompletely, or it was created in a demo account or testnet. You need a key from your main account.
- “No read access” - turn on the sections from step 3.
- Time error - turn on automatic time in your iPhone settings.
